ULTRA HIGH-SPEED CAMERA SYSTEMS Two characteristics distinguish "Ultra" High-Speed Imaging. The exposure time will be in the "nanoseconds" range (billionth of a second) compared to microseconds for High-Speed Imaging systems. Also, generally, UHSI only captures from one to one hundred frames per second. UHSI systems are noted for their short exposure time and in the case of the "double-shot" versions, the short interframe time (nanoseconds). There are some new cameras that blur the distinction between High-Speed and Ultra High-Speed camera systems that are very high resolution with exposure times in the microseconds (as opposed to nanoseconds). These cameras are ideally suited for many scientific applications.
