Photron FASTCAM-Ultima 1024 with mega-pixel CMOS Sensor

Photron FastCam-Ultima 1024 with CMOS Sensor

The Ultima 1024: The next generation of mega-pixel CMOS Sensor Technology provides high-speed, high-resolution digital images for every motion analysis requirement.

The Photron Ultima 1024 with mega-pixel CMOS Sensor provides a new standard in affordable digital high-speed imaging. Incorporating the latest advanced CMOS sensor technology the system is capable of frame rates up to 500 frames per second (fps) at 1,024 by 1,024 pixel resolution, and up to 16,000 fps at reduced resolution. A frame rate independent electronic shutter, providing exposure times as short as 1/128,000 (7.8 microsecond), ensures clear image capture of even the fastest events.

In addition to these remarkable capabilities, the Phorton Ultima 1024 with CMOS sensor can operate as part of a network of cameras using built-in Fiber Optic and IEEE-1394 (Firewire) advanced communication capabilities, permitting synchronization of multiple cameras located over a mile apart. Alternatively, the Ultima 1024 with CMOS sensor can be easily operated in a stand-alone configuration, with no computer required for set up or operation. Video output in both composite RS-170 and S-VHS formats (NTSC and PAL) is available for quick camera set up and image review.

The FASTCAM-ultima 1024 is simple to use, especially with the compact handheld keypad with backlit LCD display supplied with the system. The keypad is arranged in an intuitive manner to enable easy operation, in the field or the laboratory, with little or no training.

These, and many more features all help to make the Ultima 1024 with mega-pixel CMOS Technology the most versatile high-speed digital imaging system available.

CMOS technology provides ultimate performance:
Capable of recording images of over one million pixels at 500 fps (top speed is 16,000 fps at reduced resolution), the Ultima 1024's CMOS sensor removes the problems of image blooming (white-outs, tearing or smearing) long associated with conventional CCD-based imagers, and provides unmatched image clarity and color fidelity.

Multiple control options for multiple uses:
The Ultima 1024 can be easily used by itself using its intuitive hand-held control unit, or connected to your PC or laptop and operated under a simple Windows interface, as part of a network of cameras located over one mile away, or by your own software using the RS-422 commands and SDK libraries provided.

High-speed control by your computer is fast, secure and reliable:
The Ultima 1024 with CMOS sensor has a built-in Firewire (also known as IEEE-1394 or i.LINK) interface to greatly simplify and speed up camera control and image download to any computer running under Windows.

Optical link means multiple cameras can be controlled over great distances:
Using the IEEE-1394 Optical Link provided, enables fast and secure remote camera control at distances of over one mile (two kilometers), with over sixty cameras controlled by a single computer.
